Choosing a therapist is a very important decision. Having confidence in your therapist is vital for there to be a productive relationship. When seeking support from Voyages Counseling, we suggest starting with a free consultation phone call with a few of our therapists to understand their treatment styles, philosophies, and recovery plans. If you are interested in speaking to one of our therapists, click their name above for more information on their personal history, education, and what to expect out of a session.

Our families can be one of our greatest support systems in life. However, these relationships, as with any, need maintenance and effort to thrive, especially in the face of adversity and change. Our therapists will act as facilitators between family members to understand the root of your family’s concerns. Collectively, we will work to break new ground in your family’s dynamic and find solutions that ensure every member of your family has the opportunity to share their unique perspectives. Then, together, we will find a common ground based on understanding and love. Families are simply groups of individuals, each with their own experiences, feelings, and needs. Therapy can be hard work at times, but there are few more important things to invest time and work into than family.

As with anything worthwhile, relationships require attention and work to be maintained over time. If you and your partner are experiencing hardships in your relationship or have emotional wounds that can’t seem to heal, couples counseling is a great way for you and your partner to heal and overcome. In our couples therapy sessions, our therapists will help you and your partner understand the strains and miscommunications in your relationship. The longer a relationship is, the more possible it is that problems and stressors may arise that did not exist earlier in the relationship. Perhaps you and your partner seem to be having the same fight over and over again. Perhaps unspoken disagreements have hardened into resentments. Our goal is to help you and your partner find strategies to reopen pathways of communication that may have previously been closed off, to reconnect with yourself and your partner, and ultimately rebuild your relationship on a foundation of mutual love, trust, and understanding.

If you are experiencing symptoms of depression & anxiety, know that you are not alone. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), approximately 25 percent of U.S. adults struggle with depression, anxiety or some combination of both. For individuals living with depression & anxiety, it can sometimes be hard to imagine a future free from these circumstances. Enjoying friends, family, and everyday activities can become increasingly difficult because these conditions tend to push people away from the current moment. Each one of our therapists is trained and experienced in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. Many people spend all day inside their own heads; we will work with you to recognize intrusive thoughts and negative self talk. Then, we can help find strategies to bring meaning, purpose, and balance to your life. Depression and anxiety are not chronic conditions; with time, support, and guidance, it is possible for you to experience life more fully and vibrantly than ever before.
