I believe that we each have a unique story to tell and that sometimes we need a third party to hear that story and to help provide inspiration. The pages of our books can get wordy or cluttered and it is my goal to help my clients sort out all of the pieces so they can continue creating exceptional stories of healing and growth.
I am passionate about working with adolescents, individuals, and couples with concerns about support, independence, self-esteem, self-confidence and general relationship struggles. I work alongside clients to explore their concerns in a safe, supportive, friendly and welcoming environment. We work together to navigate your desired. Together, we will work to make your experience in therapy as unique as you are.
What will sessions be like?
My goal is to provide a safe, caring, and supportive environment where my client’s well-being and goals are the priority. We will focus on your struggles as well as your strengths so that together we can better understand who you are as a whole. Through compassion and a little humor, we will walk this journey of change and growth. Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership where we may take turns leading the conversation but focused ultimately on realistic goals of growth, understanding, and balance.
In addition to working with adolescents and couples, I enjoy working with parents and families. I believe that each individual is influenced by the network of people around them and that their network is a valuable tool for growth. I have experience working with adolescents who are currently, or have engaged in high-risk behavior in the past. I believe working with parents and providing coaching when needed is a valuable tool to reinforce the support children receive at home, as well as allowing for more positive interactions in the family.
I have found that taking the time to understand each client’s sense of well-being, as well as who is in their support system can answer many questions about what is going on. Oftentimes the less support one feels and poorer well-being reported can mean more concerns about mental health.
Education and Background:
I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Colorado in Denver and my Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Capella University. I am currently practicing as a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate in pursuit of licensure.
I like to enjoy life and find peace and happiness in the little things. I enjoy hiking for hours in the beautiful scenery in Colorado, while other times I find myself curled up with a really good novel. I love to explore the environment around me as well as sit and watch an interesting documentary. I believe the world around us is beautiful and has so many treasures waiting to be found.
