Professional Background:
I hold a Master of Counseling degree from the University of Colorado Denver, where I developed a strong foundation in counseling theories and techniques. I am a full-time school counselor at a public high school in the Denver Metro Area. My career began in domestic relations litigation, where I learned firsthand legal and familial complexities. Transitioning into school counseling, I furthered my understanding of adolescent development and educational challenges, which continues to inform my therapeutic approach today. As a therapist, I use each of these professional endeavors, along with my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Coe College (Cedar Rapids, IA), to help my clients thrive in their social context.
Therapeutic Approach:
I specialize in solution-focused therapy drawing from elements of cognitive behavioral (CBT) and emotion-focused therapy. My background in domestic relations litigation and school counseling brings a wealth of practical experience and therapeutic insight to my practice. I am dedicated to fostering a collaborative and solution-focused environment in therapy and draw from cognitive behavioral strategies. I work with clients to identify and change negative thought patterns, develop effective coping skills, and achieve their goals. When working with adolescents, my number one goal is to build a relationship of trust and understanding and to allow them to lead their time. I believe developing “emotional skills” is one of the most transferable and impactful outcomes of therapy and can lead to positive outcomes in relationships across the lifespan.

For me, it is important to understand client identities and backgrounds to ensure cultural competence within the therapeutic relationship.
