SPECIALTIES & APPROACH:

Let’s face it: life is messy. We are presented with various, often unanticipated, surprises and challenges. Life’s challenges can feel extremely heavy and tend to look the most intimidating when we are facing them alone. I am here to assure you that you are not alone. As your therapist, I will be your advocate and will stand alongside you in your journey to change with curiosity, empathy, transparency, and inevitably, humor.

I am passionate about providing individual therapy for adults of all ages and backgrounds who are struggling with acute trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and general life stressors. I utilize a holistic, trauma-informed approach to provide education about the impacts of trauma and to assist clients in viewing their current problems and symptoms through the lens of “What happened to you?” rather than, “What’s wrong with you?” I incorporate techniques from evidenced-based treatment modalities, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), and attachment-based therapy to individualize your treatment.

WHAT SESSIONS WILL BE LIKE:

Beginning a therapeutic journey can often feel intimidating, uncomfortable, or even scary. As your therapist, I aim to create a safe, empowering, and non-judgmental space that offers you the freedom to show up as your authentic self. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and center my work on building trust and maintaining strong therapeutic rapport with my clients.

Our first few sessions will involve information gathering, a chance for us to get to know one another, and an opportunity for me to learn more about you, your experiences, and the many other influences that have contributed to the multifaceted human being that you are. During our sessions, I will offer you feedback and a fresh perspective, suggest tools and coping skills that may be useful for you, highlight your strengths, and even gently challenge you at times. I will approach you from a place of empowerment and encourage you to be an active participant as we work collaboratively to cultivate insight, set goals, develop skills, and embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery.

EDUCATION & BACKGROUND:

  • Trained in evidence-based trauma treatments: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy)

  • Advanced training in EMDR & Ego States: “parts” work approach for complex trauma and dissociation

  • Trained in attachment-based therapy: Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFiT)

  • Neurofeedback Therapy

It is my personal experience of life’s surprises and challenges that fueled my passion for helping others. Originally from Colorado Springs, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus on Human Services from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and graduated with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy outdoor adventures with my two dogs, exploring new books and podcasts, attending concerts, horseback riding, and spending time with friends and family.
