In my culture, Aloha means Hello, Goodbye and Love. I have learned for myself that as human beings we often seek to find love and validation from everywhere and anywhere else besides ourselves. We are rarely taught how to love, care, nurture, protect and evolve ourselves. My view on therapy is based in a very organic and natural Humanistic Approach where there is no such thing as right and wrong; there is only good, better, and best. My whole point as your therapist is to help you be good enough for you, because in actuality - You are the cure for you. Your choices, your perspectives, and your history make up all of you. I am here as a mere servant to help you explore and heal you.
I seek to serve male and female clients, adults and adolescents, who struggle with depression, anxiety, ADHD, conduct/anger management, and suicidality. I also have a deep love to work with those who struggle with substance abuse issues that are connected to PTSD & other traumas. Additionally, I enjoy assisting people who are US Veterans in the military and those that are first-generation and have strong cultural backgrounds that originate from outside of the United States.
What Will Sessions be Like:
I have specialized training in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapies. Sessions are designed around helping you find your own congruence and purpose within your own life. Together, we will check how well your current coping mechanisms are working, challenging thoughts and feelings that are no longer serving you. Hand in hand, I will walk with you as we enter new emotional spaces within you. Just like riding a bike, there will be some growing pains, but I promise you’re not alone. We’re in this- Together.
Education and Background:
I am 7 of 12 children. My family immigrated to the United States in 1975. We originate from the Kingdom of Tonga which is a small island in the South Pacific near Hawai’i, Australia, and New Zealand. I grew up in Los Angeles where my upbringing was colorful and adventurous, to say the least. I have two beautiful boys who are 6 & 8 and I am new to Colorado.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University-Hawai’i in 2013. In 2016, I graduated from the University of Hawai’i-Manoa with my Master's Degree in Social Work.
I look forward to connecting with you! Mahalo.
